Tara Ross grew up in Sugar Land, Texas, a suburb of Houston. She attended Rice University and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology in 1994. Tara took a break from school for several years, then began law school at the University of Texas in 1998. During her second and third years of law school, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Review of Law & Politics. She obtained her J.D. in 2001; shortly thereafter, she began work as an associate in Fulbright & JaworskiÕs Houston office. As a lawyer, her practice focused on municipal bond law. She practiced as a public finance lawyer in Houston until her marriage and subsequent move to Dallas in 2002.

Today, Tara is a freelance writer, focusing on legal and public policy issues. Her work has been published in several law reviews and newspapers, including the American Enterprise Online, National Review Online, FoxNews.com, Human Events Online, The Washington Times, USA Today, DallasBlog.com, the National Law Journal, and the Texas Review of Law & Politics. She has written two books. Enlightened Democracy: The Case for the Electoral College, was published in 2004. Under God: George Washington and the Question of Church and State (with co-author Joseph C. Smith, Jr.) was released in early 2008. Tara and her husband Adam reside in Dallas with their daughter Emma.
