Bill Collins

National Church Adopt-A-School Initiative

Bill Collins was born in Houston, Texas, where he grew up and attended public schools in the Aldine District.

As a 1966 High School graduate, Bill selected the University of Colorado, where he was a member of the Colorado football team. Bill earned all Big Eight Honors his senior year. He was also elected as the first African American Co-Captain his senior year.

In 1970, Bill graduated with a degree in Business Administration and attended graduate school at the University of Texas at Arlington.

In March 1971, Bill joined Xerox Corporation as a Sales Representative in Houston, Texas. Over the following 34 years, Bill held a variety of Management positions including: District Manager in Dallas, Texas, Marketing Manager of the Southern Region, Vice-President/General Manager in Michigan, Vice-President/General Manager of North Texas, and Vice-President/General Manager for the state of Texas.

Bill is married to Esther Collins, for 26 years and they have seven children and nine grandchildren. They currently reside in Desoto, Texas.

Bill and his wife Esther are members of the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church, under the leadership of Dr. Tony Evans. Bill currently serves as an Elder and is a part of the Worship Ministry. Bill has served on a number of Non-Profit boards including the Dallas Citizens Council, Dallas/Ft. Worth Minority Business Council, Ft. Worth Ex-Offender Development Board, and Communities in Schools, Dallas/Ft. Worth.

In January 2005, Bill retired from Xerox Corporation. In January 2006, Bill joined The Urban Alternative, as Vice-President, with a primary focus on the National Church Adopt-A-School Initiative.
